Balancing Your Checking Account
If you are not familiar with balancing checking accounts, RCU's Member Service Department will show you how to balance your accounts at no charge to you. If you should have problems balancing your checking account, RCU will balance it for you: but there will be a charge of $20 per hour. You must furnish RCU with a balanced statement from within the last three statement periods. Use the form on the back of your statement for balancing and use the completed form to show us you actually did have the account in balance.

Post-dated Checks
Under no circumstances will RCU be liable for the payment or nonpayment of a postdated check.

Statements
While you have a checking account with RCU, statements will be mailed to you on a monthly basis. If a duplicate statement is needed, you may obtain a single month/copy at no charge. For multiple months/copies, the first is free and each additional is $1.

Photocopies of Checks
Copies of checks drawn on your checking account to provide proof of payment to a third party - free. Other reasons - $1 each.

Cost of Printing Checks
If you have automatic Direct Deposit of your entire paycheck or government check to your account at RCU, there will be a discount for check printing (unless account holder chooses a reduced cost for RCU eBranch). The cost for printing your checks will be deducted from your checking account. Check the current service charges brochure for current prices.

Reject Fee
Checks ordered through any suppliers other than the RCU approved supplier may be subject to a fee of $1 per reject if those checks require manual processing.

Inactive Accounts
Please note that if your checking account has a ZERO balance and no activity for SIX months, RCU will automatically close the account. Closed accounts can be reopened at any RCU office.

Checking Without Overdraft Protection

If a checking account does not contain sufficient funds to pay a check when presented to RCU, or to cover a withdrawal from a ATM teller, a Check Card transaction or any other pre-authorized debit to the account, an attempt will be made to obtain the funds. This will be done by transferring the funds from the savings account to the checking account in $100 increments and $3 will be charged to the checking account for each transfer.

Remember, a balance of $5 or more is required in regular savings in order to keep your account open.

Federal regulations allow only six telephone transfers, CompuTeller, and/or pre-authorized transfer withdrawals from each regular savings account per calendar month. (A pre-authorized transfer is when RCU must transfer funds from savings to checking to cover an overdraft.)

If sufficient funds are still not available, the check or pre-authorized debit will be returned non-sufficient funds (NSF). A $25 charge will be deducted from your account for every check or pre-authorized debit which must be returned NSF. We will also check your balance sometime the next morning for additional deposits. If your balance is sufficient at that time, your check(s) will clear with a charge of only $25 each. These charges are collected from the checking account or savings account. RCU may close a checking account if that checking account is charged with an excessive number of NSF's. RCU cannot honor any check or pre-authorized debit on an account which has been closed.

Checking With Overdraft Protection

No advances from Kwik-Cash to cover overdrafts will be made if any loan made by RCU to the undersigned is past due.

Kwik-Cash line-of-credit limit for overdraft protection is zero dollars until written notice has been received from RCU advising that the limit has been changed.

If a checking account does not contain sufficient funds to pay a check when presented to RCU or to cover a withdrawal from an ATM, a Check Card transaction or any other pre-authorized debit to the account, an attempt will be made to obtain the funds in the following order:

A Kwik-Cash (line-of-credit) loan will be advanced in $100 increments up to the approved line-of-credit limit, and the loan proceeds deposited in the checking account.

If the line-of-credit limit has been reached, funds will be transferred from the savings account to the checking account in $100 increments, and $3 will be charged to the checking account for each transfer. The required $5 minimum balance in the savings account cannot be used to pay checks, Check Card transactions, withdrawals from an ATM, or any other pre-authorized debit.

Federal regulations allow only six telephone transfers, CompuTeller, and/or pre-authorized transfer withdrawals from each regular savings account per calendar month. (A pre-authorized transfer is when RCU must transfer funds from savings to checking to cover an overdraft).

We will also check your balance sometime the next morning for additional deposits. If your balance is sufficient at that time, your check(s) will clear with a charge of only $25 each.

If sufficient funds are still not available, the check or pre-authorized debit will be returned non-sufficient funds (NSF). RCU may close a checking account if that checking account is charged with an excessive number of NSF's. An NSF occurs when a check or pre-authorized debit must be returned. A $25 charge will be deducted from your account for every check or pre-authorized debit which must be returned NSF. These charges are collected from the checking account or savings account. If there are not sufficient funds in either account, the charges will be added to your Kwik-Cash Loan. RCU cannot honor any check or pre-authorized debit on an account which has been closed.
