Quicken Information For Lake Area Bank Customers

As your Lake Area Bank account(s) become Royal Credit Union accounts, you will need to modify your Quicken settings to ensure that your data connectivity transfers smoothly. This page contains instructions for Windows and Mac Direct Connect, Express Web Connect, or Web Connect connectivity types. Instructions For One-Step Update Initiated From Within Quicken

Quicken Desktop Windows Direct Connect

On August 26:

Note: you should plan to complete these actions on August 26 to ensure you are capturing the most up to date Lake Area Bank transaction history with no missing transactions. Lake Area Bank online banking access is expected to end at 4 p.m. CT on August 26, so you must complete these actions before that time. Once you reconnect to your accounts after the conversion, transaction information from Lake Area Bank on or before August 26 will not be accessible. Any missing transactions will need to be entered manually from information shown on your account statements.

  • Back up your Quicken Windows Data File. Go to File > Backup and Restore > Backup Quicken File.
  • Download the latest Quicken Update. Go to Help > Check for Updates.
  • Complete a final transaction download. Accept all new transactions into the appropriate registers.

On Or After August 29:

  • Deactivate online banking connection for Lake Area Bank accounts.
    • Choose Tools > Account List.
    • Click Edit on the account to deactivate.
    • In Account Details, click Online Services.
    • Click Deactivate. Follow prompts to confirm deactivation.
    • Click the General tab.
    • Delete Financial Institution and Account Number information. Click OK to close window.
    • Repeat steps for any additional accounts that apply.
  • Reconnect the online banking connection for your accounts.
    • Choose Tools > Account List.
    • Click Edit on the account you want to activate.
    • In Account Details, click Online Services and then choose Set up Now.
    • Choose Advanced Setup and select Direct Web Connect.
    • If you use consumer online banking at Royal:
      • Log in to your consumer online banking and navigate to the Quicken® and QuickBooks® option located under the Manage Money tab.
      • Create a Direct Connect password.
      • Once this is completed, navigate back to the Quicken application and search for RCU-DC_Quicken_QB and select Continue.
      • Enter your Royal Credit Union online banking username along with the Direct Connect password that you have created.
        • Contact Royal if your login information does not work.
    • If you use business online banking at Royal:
      • Log in to your business online banking and navigate to the Connectivity for Quicken and QuickBooks® option located under the Other Services column in the Additional Services tab.
      • Create a Direct Connect password.
      • Once this is completed, navigate back to the Quicken application and search for Royal CU Business Direct Connect and select Continue.
      • Enter your Royal Credit Union online banking username along with the Direct Connect password that you have created.
        • Contact Royal if your login information does not work.
    • Ensure you associate the accounts to the appropriate accounts already listed in Quicken. Select Link to an existing account and select the matching accounts in the drop-down menu if the matching account is not automatically chosen for you.
      • Important: Do NOT choose “Create a new account” unless you intend to add a new account to Quicken. If you are presented with accounts you do not want to track in this data file, choose Ignore – Don’t Download into Quicken or click Cancel.
      • Important: your new Royal account will start with one account transaction - a deposit for the balance that was transferred from Lake Area Bank. To avoid having this transaction added to your account, you will need to reject or manually delete it when prompted to review transactions.
      • Quicken may prompt you to create a renaming rule for transactions as they are imported. You can complete this during this step or afterwards. 
    • After all accounts have been matched, click Next and then Done.

Quicken Mac Desktop Direct Connect

On August 26:

Note: you should plan to complete these actions on August 26 to ensure you are capturing the most up to date Lake Area Bank transaction history with no missing transactions. Lake Area Bank online banking access is expected to end at 4 p.m. CT on August 26, so you must complete these actions before that time. Once you reconnect to your accounts after the conversion, transaction information from Lake Area Bank on or before August 26 will not be accessible. Any missing transactions will need to be entered manually from information shown on your account statements.

  • Backup Quicken Mac Data File and Update the application.
    • Choose File > Save a Backup.
    • Download the latest Quicken Update. Choose Quicken > Check for Updates.
  • Complete a final transaction download.
    • Complete last transaction update before the change to get all of your transaction history up to date.
    • Accept all new transactions into the appropriate registers.

On Or After August 29:

  • Activate the online banking connection for Royal Credit Union accounts.
    • Click your account in the Accounts list on the left side.
    • Choose Accounts > Settings.
    • Select Set up transaction download.
    • If you use consumer online banking at Royal:
      • Log in to your consumer online banking and navigate to the Quicken® and QuickBooks® option located under the Manage Money tab.
      • Create a Direct Connect password.
      • Once this is completed, navigate back to the Quicken application and search for RCU-DC_Quicken_QB and select Continue.
      • Enter your Royal Credit Union online banking username along with the Direct Connect password that you have created.
        • Contact Royal if your login information does not work.
    • If you use business online banking at Royal:
      • Log in to your business online banking and navigate to the Connectivity for Quicken and QuickBooks® option located under the Other Services column in the Additional Services tab.
      • Create a Direct Connect password.
      • Once this is completed, navigate back to the Quicken application and search for Royal CU Business Direct Connect and select Continue.
      • Enter your Royal Credit Union online banking username along with the Direct Connect password that you have created.
        • Contact Royal if your login information does not work.
    • In the “Accounts Found” screen, ensure you associate each new account to the appropriate account already listed in Quicken. Under Action, choose Link to pick your existing account.
      • Important: Do NOT select “ADD” in the Action column unless you intend to add a new account to Quicken.
      • Important: your new Royal account will start with one account transaction - a deposit for the balance that was transferred from Lake Area Bank. To avoid having this transaction added to your account, you will need to reject or manually delete it when prompted to review transactions.
    • Click Finish.

Instructions For Downloading A Web Connect File From Royal Credit Union Online Banking

    • In Quicken, choose File > File Import > Web Connect (.QFX) File. Alternatively, you may be able to open the .qfx file to launch Quicken and import transactions automatically.
    • Use the import dialog to select the Web Connect file you downloaded. An “Import Downloaded Transactions” window opens.
    • Choose Link to an existing account. Select the matching account in the drop-down menu. Associate the imported transactions to the correct account listed in Quicken.
      • Important: your new Royal account will start with one account transaction - a deposit for the balance that was transferred from Lake Area Bank. To avoid having this transaction added to your account, you will need to reject or manually delete it when prompted to review transactions.
    • Repeat this step for each account you have connected to this institution.

Quicken Desktop Mac Web Connect

On August 26:

    • Download a Quicken Web Connect file from Royal Credit Union online banking.
      • You can download your transactions from the account summary page in Royal Credit Union online banking by choosing the Export option and selecting your desired file type. Quicken uses the “.qfx” file type.
      • Important: Take note of the date you last had a successful connection. If you have overlapping dates in the web-connect process, you may end up with duplicate transactions.
    • Drag and drop the downloaded file into the box titled Drop download file. Choose Web Connect for the “Connection Type” if prompted
    • In the “Accounts Found” screen, ensure you associate each new account to the appropriate account already listed in Quicken. Under the Action column, click Link to pick your existing account.
      • Important: Do NOT select “ADD” in the Action column unless you intend to add a new account to Quicken.
      • Important: your new Royal account will start with one account transaction - a deposit for the balance that was transferred from Lake Area Bank. To avoid having this transaction added to your account, you will need to reject or manually delete it when prompted to review transactions.
    • Click Finish.
