We’re Celebrating Royal Credit Union’s 60th Anniversary!

 

Royal Credit Union is turning 60! In 2024, we reflect on six remarkable decades of creating a positive impact in the lives we touch.

Royal Credit Union’s History

Royal Credit Union was started in Eau Claire, Wisconsin by employees of the Uniroyal Tire Company on April 14, 1964. In that first year, the credit union started with 100 Members – these were the initial Uniroyal employees and their families.

Royal continued to grow, and by 1972 the credit union began adding employee groups from other local companies. These additions rapidly expanded Royal’s membership and led to a community charter in 1975, meaning anyone who lived in the community could join. This marked the start of Royal’s ongoing commitment to community partnerships in Eau Claire and beyond.

Royal has since expanded to serve over 300,000 Members in West Central Wisconsin, Eastern Minnesota, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro area of Minnesota. In 2024, we’re celebrating 60 years of financial cooperation and community support!

The 60th anniversary of Royal Credit Union is a celebration of the countless financial accomplishments of our Members over the years, and a testament to the lasting relationships we’ve forged as a trusted sources of financial knowledge and empowerment. Together with our Members, we’ve consistently faced challenges head-on, embraced changes, and continued to offer the very best service to our Members.

Join Us As We Celebrate 60 Years

To mark this 60th anniversary milestone, Royal is planning a series of events, recognitions, and special celebrations throughout 2024. Here are the highlights – watch this space for more details:

• Social media cash giveaways: Follow Royal on Facebook for timing and details
• April sticker giveaway: Starting on April 15, Members are encouraged to stop by any Royal office to pick up a special 60th Anniversary vinyl sticker! Limit one per Member while supplies last.
• Rock the Riverfront: The RCU Foundation’s Rock the Riverfront event featuring the Charity Classic is celebrating 30 years of running and walking to support our communities. Join us on Saturday, June 22. 
• Gift Basket Giveaway: In October, we’ll be celebrating National Cooperative Month and International Credit Union Day by giving away a special 60th Anniversary themed basket in each of our offices.
• Royal 60th Anniversary Community Celebration: Join us on Saturday, October 12 for a special party to honor our Uniroyal roots. The celebration will take place from 12-3 p.m. at the Brewing Projekt in Eau Claire, WI and will feature music from The Whitesidewalls®, food trucks, giveaways, and more.
