EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Royal Credit Union (Royal) displayed its commitment to fighting food insecurity during Hunger Action Month by donating a total of $15,000 to three local food banks: Feed My People Food Bank, Second Harvest Heartland, and St. Croix Valley Food Bank. In addition to these generous donations, Royal team members rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at each organization, embodying the credit union’s core purpose of creating a positive impact.
Hunger Action Month is a national campaign that raises awareness about food insecurity and mobilizes individuals, businesses, and organizations to take action in the month of September. Recognizing the urgent need to support families facing hunger, Royal allocated funds to critical food assistance providers, ensuring resources reach those who need it most. Second Harvest Heartland, St. Croix Valley Food Bank, and Feed My People Food Bank serve thousands of individuals and families in Western Wisconsin and Minnesota. This contribution aims to provide assistance to those in need and highlight the ongoing challenges of hunger that affect many individuals and families.
“Supporting causes like Hunger Action Month is natural extension of our values,” says Brandon Riechers, President/CEO at Royal Credit Union. “We are not here simply to do business; we are here to build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.”
“I wish more people understood that hunger is happening in our communities”, says Becky Ruska, Community Engagement & Events Coordinator at St. Croix Valley Food Bank. “It’s not something that you may see every day, but it is in each and every one of our communities.”
These efforts are in addition to Royal’s ongoing annual support and volunteer efforts at organizations that assist individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout the communities the credit union serves.
