Royal Credit Union's Audit Services team has been recognized with a Best Practice Award from the Association of Credit Union Audit and Risk Professionals (ACUARP) for its innovative Audit Career Pathing Program.
The program was designed to provide Royal team members with a pathway to a career in auditing. Upon completing both the program and a two-year business degree, participants become eligible for consideration for positions on the Audit Services team. By providing education, mentorship, and hands-on learning opportunities, the program helps participants build the skills and experience needed to transition into entry-level positions within Audit Services.
For current participant Skyelar Boxell, the experience has been both professionally and personally rewarding. "The Audit Career Pathing Program has been valuable to me because it has expanded my understanding of Royal's procedures, strengthened my professional skills, and given me confidence in my long-term career development with Royal," said Boxell.
The award highlights Royal's ongoing commitment to investing in its people and developing talent from within. According to Amy Schaefer, Chief Internal Auditor, the recognition reflects a long-standing culture of innovation within the department. "Our team has won 10 ACUARP Best Practice Awards since 2009, which reflects Audit Services' ongoing commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and sharing practical ideas with the credit union audit community," Schaefer said.
