Deposit a check without ever visiting an office or ATM with RCU Deposit. Use the RCU Deposit App for your iPhone®, iPad ®, iPod touch®, or Android™ phone or tablet to deposit a check from the comfort of your home – or anywhere else you happen to be.

To use RCU Deposit you must:

How do I get the free RCU Deposit App?

  • For iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, there are three ways to get the app:
  • Click here to download the app.
  • Open the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and search for RCU. From there you will find a link to download the free App.
  • Open iTunes® on your computer, and search for RCU to download the free App. If you don't have iTunes, you can download it at itunes.apple.com.
  • For Android, there are two ways to get the app:
  • Click here to download the app.
  • Visit Google Play from your Android phone or tablet. Search for RCU, and then download the free application.

Is RCU Deposit secure?
Yes. We use 128-bit encryption: Secure Socket Layer 3.0 (SSL) for all communications. This is currently the highest level of security available for Internet transactions. In addition to this, you can help keep your device secure through password protection and downloading programs only from trusted sources. It is also important to submit the deposit as soon as you have completed the picture taking process. If you are unable to do this, delete the pictures and retake when time allows.

Can I deposit any check through RCU Deposit?
Not every check can be deposited through RCU Deposit. Checks written to yourself, checks stamped with a “non-negotiable” watermark, checks issued in a foreign currency or by a financial institution in a foreign country, and US savings bonds cannot be deposited through RCU Deposit.

When will my money be available for withdrawal if I use RCU Deposit?
Deposited funds will be immediately credited to your account, unless the deposit requires further review by RCU or if a hold is applied. If necessary, deposits will be reviewed (due to poor image quality, for example) on the same business day if made before 3 PM, or the next business day if made after 3 PM or on a weekend or holiday. If a hold is applied, a portion of your deposit will generally be held for three days.

How should I endorse the check?
The back of each check must include: The words “For Deposit Only into Royal Credit Union” and the payee's account number and signature. If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit.

How many checks can I deposit using RCU Deposit?
You can deposit as many checks as you would like up to your deposit limit. However, you can only deposit one check at a time. If you chose to deposit checks to multiple accounts you will have to log out between deposits to be able to select from the deposit account list.

What do I do with the paper check after it is deposited?
Securely store your check for 30 days after making the deposit, and then destroy it (preferably by shredding). This allows enough time in case the original check is required for any reason.

What do I do if I get a Image Warning Message?
If you have received and Image Warning an important piece of information is missing or could not be read. If the information is not present or not clearly readable, recapture the image. However, if the information is present and clearly legible you may submit the deposit.

What do I do if I get an Image Error Message?
If you have received an image error, please review the error information and retake the picture as directed. You cannot submit the deposit until this error is resolved. To ensure the successful processing of your deposit, it is essential that you take usable pictures.

How to take a usable picture:

Lighting Conditions — Bright but indirect light is best. Placing the check too close to lighting sources may cause shadows. For best results, place the check in an area with a good source of natural light.

Background Surface — Any surface of a solid color that contrasts with the check is best. Use a dark color surface for light checks; a light color surface for dark checks.

Image Size — Use the green borders to properly zoom and scale. Make sure the entire check appears in the green borders and fills the space as much as possible. The green corners that “hug” your check are a good indication that the check has been properly located in the photograph field.
