Royal’s Annual Summer Partnership a Big Success!

During the month of July, Royal’s financial education team was busy in our metro communities, sharing interactive lessons with kids in grades K-8 at 15 different YMCA of the North locations. We partnered with YMCA’s in Apple Valley, Eagan, Lakeville, Rosemount, St. Paul, Stillwater and Woodbury in Minnesota and Hudson and Prescott in Wisconsin. Each site was visited twice, reaching 1,651 participating kids through the delivery of 89 financial education presentations. On our first visit, students engaged in hands on learning about saving, coins and currency, grocery shopping math, and entrepreneurship. During our second visit, students participated in our signature program, Takeover Day, and met Royal’s Super Heroes of Savings! Our caped presenters taught lessons about earning, saving and spending, and budgeting. Our 4th-8th grade participants used their budgeting skills to strategize and compete in a fun and creative tower building activity. A highlight of one of our visits was when we started a lesson by telling the group that we were there to teach them about money and a young girl raised her and excitedly told us that she had a superhero in a cape teach her about money last summer (that was us!). Our six-year partnership with the YMCA Summer Program has benefitted thousands of children and is one of the ways that we embody our core purpose of creating a positive impact in the lives we touch.
