General Questions

What if I have a question about the Utilities Credit Union merger? Many merger details will be shared in our Welcome Booklet, which will be mailed to all UCU Members in September. A PDF version of the Welcome Booklet is also available. If you have additional questions, Royal is ready to help answer them. You may use the contact form on this web page or call 800-341-9911.

Can UCU Members join Royal Credit Union before the merger is complete? UCU Members are welcome to join Royal by opening an account before the merger is finalized. To open an account, simply find the account you wish to open on rcu.org and use the Open or Apply options to get started. All UCU Members will become Royal Members when the merger is complete, so opening an account before the merger is finalized is completely optional.

During the UCU merger, will account numbers stay the same? As part of the UCU merger, UCU Members will receive new Royal Credit Union account numbers. All loans will also have new Royal account numbers.

What happens if I am a Member of both UCU and Royal already? If you are already a Member of both Utilities Credit Union and Royal Credit Union, your UCU accounts will simply be added to Royal's system. These accounts will automatically show up in online and mobile banking. You will keep your existing Member Number as well.

During the UCU merger, when will Royal's rates apply to UCU Members' accounts? We expect that deposit accounts will begin earning interest at Royal’s rates as soon as the UCU Member becomes a Royal Member. Loan interest rates will remain as defined in the original loan agreements unless the loan is refinanced with Royal.

Will all UCU Members become Royal Credit Union Members? During the UCU merger, all UCU Members will become Royal Members when the merger is complete.
