Enjoy Activities & Fun for Credit Union Youth Month in April!
April during National Credit Union Youth Month. Learning to save at a young age is critical to successful money management as an adult. Royal is joining the celebration and has many exciting activities and events planned.
School $ense Celebration - All Month
Royal Credit Union’s elementary School $ense locations will kick off the month with classroom trivia to earn an entry into a drawing for a "Credit Union Strong Summer Fun" themed gift basket for their classroom. Super Savers in the elementary and middle schools will be able to take advantage of a double stamp week April 25-29, as well as be entered into a drawing for a prize. Royal Credit Union operates 28 school site offices located in Balsam Lake, Chippewa Falls, Colby, Eau Claire, Rice Lake, River Falls, St. Croix Falls and Eden Prairie.
The Big Read - April 23 & April 26
Royal’s financial education team is hosting two events called The Big Read. The first is being held on Saturday, April 23 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Prairie Ridge Early Learning Center, 3031 Epiphany Ln., Eau Claire. Royal financial educators will read the book A Dollar for Penny by Julie Glass to help children learn that it can be fun to earn and share money. Parents will also be educated on teaching their children about money. On Tuesday, April 26 a second Big Read will be held from 3:30-4 p.m. at the Chippewa Falls Public Library, 105 W. Central Street. Nancy Carlson’s new book, Start Saving, Henry, will be read to participants. Both events are free and open to the public. The Big Read is in partnership with Money Smart Week® Wisconsin. Money Smart Week® supports free workshops that provide unbiased financial education.
Identity Theft & Social Media - April 26
Whether it’s paper, plastic or online, how do you protect your identity? This presentation for teens and adults will include the Dos & Don’ts, privacy/security updates and more to help you learn how to keep your identity protected and safely connected with family and friends. This is being held on April 26, from 2-3 p.m. at the Chippewa Falls Public Library. The event is free and open to the public.
Kids Club Promotion - April 18-29
Open a new Kid’s Club Savings Account for your child at any Royal Credit Union office and we will deposit the initial $5.00 into the account. The offer is available to children 12 years old and younger. Only one new savings account per person is allowed. Offer valid from April 18 to April 29, 2016. In addition, current Kid’s Club Members will receive double stamps on their Super Saver cards during this same time. All kids 12 years old and younger can also register to win a "Credit Union Strong Summer Fun" themed gift basket. There will be one winner awarded at each Royal office.
There are real benefits to opening a savings account for your child:
- It teaches them about money. Opening a savings account allows children to learn basic accounting principles. Let them keep track of their deposits and withdrawals online or through a register for an extra benefit.
- It teaches your child about saving. Have them save some of their allowance or birthday money for something they will want down the road. Introducing the concept of "pay yourself first" at a young age can have a lifelong impact.
- It prepares them for the future. Savings accounts are a tangible way to teach about money management.
