Governor’s Council Tour

Sep 19 2016 | Written By Jennifer McHugh, Director of Public Affairs and Financial Education

Royal Credit Union (Royal) hosted the Wisconsin Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy for a meeting and tour of a student-run credit union office on Friday, September 16, 2016. The council holds regular meetings to discuss financial literacy initiatives and opportunities. The meeting at Royal’s Corporate Center featured a presentation about Royal’s financial education programs and council committee reports. The council then traveled to Royal’s North High School credit union office for a tour. Royal operates 28 student-run credit union locations.

Council Vice-Chair and Secretary of Wisconsin’s Department of Financial Institutions, Lon Roberts, led the meeting and a discussion with the students about the impact having access to a student-run credit union in school has on financial education efforts.  Jennifer McHugh, Royal’s director of public affairs and financial education, is a member of the council.
