Meet Alicia Bender, Mortgage Loan Specialist II. Alicia has been a dedicated team member at Royal since 1999. Recently, she transitioned into a new role in mortgage after 26 years as a Member Account Representative (MAR). She’s excited about this new challenge and the opportunity to work more closely with home equity loans, mortgage modifications, and rate adjustments.
Alicia's journey with Royal began while she was studying business administration and finance. She initially applied for a teller position to start her career in the finance industry. However, she quickly fell in love with Royal’s values and work environment, which led her to stay for many years.
Alicia was ready for a new challenge and her experience with home equity loans as a MAR prepared her for the responsibilities she now takes on. The skills she developed in Member interviews, loan applications, and credit counseling have proven invaluable. She sees great potential for growth in her new position and is excited about exploring different departments within Royal.
Alicia encourages team members and young professionals to actively seek opportunities within their current roles, the community, and various projects. She believes that participating in committees, pursuing leadership roles, and networking are essential for both personal and professional development. Alicia herself has served as Chair of the Consumer Lending Committee, a role that has allowed her to connect with a wide range of team members.

She believes that working in a credit union offers an opportunity to positively impact Members' lives by providing financial guidance and simplifying processes. Alicia is committed to delivering that "wow" factor in all her endeavors, consistently striving to make a meaningful difference.
