Royal Credit Union’s dedication to financial education has once again proven to be a strong example of the ways we positively impact the communities we serve. Through our signature programs, we have reached thousands of students, providing them with valuable financial skills and knowledge that will benefit them for years to come.
By the Numbers:
School $ense
- 350 students performed nearly 15,000 transactions for their peers, gaining hands-on experience in handling finances.
- Royal Credit Union provided donations back to participating School $ense schools based on the number of transactions made. This school year, over $6,000 was paid to participating schools, supporting their educational initiatives.
Test Drive...Next Stop Reality®
- 2,400 high school students participated in events across seven different locations. These events offered students a simulated experience of managing personal finances, helping them understand the importance of budgeting, saving, and making informed financial decisions.
Takeover Day
- 1,900 K-5 students at seven different elementary schools welcomed the superheroes of saving into their classrooms. These interactive, age-appropriate lessons reached every student at each individual school in one day, making financial education fun and engaging for young learners.
Additional Highlights:
- School $ense continues to be a flagship program, providing real-life, hands-on learning experiences for students in elementary, middle, and high schools. Since its inception in 1993, the program has expanded to 30 student-run credit union locations across Royal’s footprint
These programs not only teach students essential financial skills but also foster a sense of responsibility and encourage the development of life skills. By participating in these programs, students are better prepared to navigate their financial futures with confidence.
